Following a critical discussion of the existing literature, it is proposed, by reason of research into sensory effects, that the upper limitation level of about 30 dB should not be exceeded due to the non-linearity of the middle ear. The construction is described of an infrasound test chamber enabling a day-long stay therein of a research subject. The results are given of head-acceleration measurements in the infrasound pressure-gradient field as well as of the Nystagmus research using reverse phase headphone acoustic irradiation of the research subject.

Zusammenfassung

Nach einer kritischen Diskussion der vorliegenden Literatur wird die Forderung aufgestellt, zur Vermeidung von Hörschallüberlagerung aufgrund der Nichtlinearität des Mittelohres bei Untersuchungen über sensorische Infraschallwirkungen eine obere Pegelgrenze von etwa 130 dB nicht zu überschreiten. Der Aufbau einer Infraschall-Expositionskammer für ganztägigen Aufenthalt einer Versuchsperson wird beschrieben. Ergebnisse von Kopfbeschleunigungsmessungen im Infraschalldruck-Gradientenfeld sowie von Nystagmus-Untersuchungen bei gegenphasiger Kopfhörerbeschallung von Versuchspersonen werden vorgelegt.

Après un examen critique de la littérature disponible sur le sujet, il été formulé la recommandation de ne pas dépasser le niveau sonore de 130 dB dans les expériences sur les effets sensoriels des infrasons afin d'éviter les interférences possibles avec des sons audibles du fait de la non-linéarité de l'oreille moyenne aux niveaux sonores trop élevés. On décrit la construction d'une chambre d'exposition aux infrasons où la personne testée pourrait séjourner un jour entier. On présente des résultats expérimentaux concernant l'accélération de la tête dans un champ de gradient de pression infrasonore et des observations sur le nystagmus produit par insonation de la personne testée au moyen d'écouteurs alimentés en opposition de phase.
