A mathematical model of the correlation measurement method which uses two controllable delay lines to track the rotating source of the wide-band noise is presented. The method suppresses the reflections and disturbances from static sources as well as those from the rotating sources lying at some distance from the measured source. It separates the component of direct waves coming from the relatively small part of the total source volume. The measurement results in the total power, or, in some cases, in the auto-correlation function or the power spectrum density of the signal from the source free-field, averaged over all angle positions of the source. The partial experimental verification of the method is also presented.
