Experiments on the Intensity Modulation in Space and in Time of a Laser Beam Crossing a 2 MHz Ultrasonic Field

We have experimentally explored the Fraunhofer diffraction and the related time modulation both in stationary and in progressive ultrasonic fields at various values of their energy density. We have done the same with the secondary interference and related time modulation. To do this an enlarged and collimated laser beam crossing a 2 MHz field in water has been used. Possible metrological applications are mentioned.


Die Fraunhofersche Beugung und die damit zusammenhängende zeitliche Modulation wurden sowohl in stationären als auch in fortschreitenden Ultraschallfeldern verschiedener Energiedichte experimentell untersucht. Analoge Untersuchungen wurden für die Sekundärinterferenz und die dadurch verursachte zeitliche Modulation durchgeführt. Dazu wurde ein 2-MHz-Feld in Wasser mit einem vergrößerten und ausgeblendeten Laserstrahl beaufschlagt. Ferner wird auf mögliche meßtechnische Anwendungen eingegangen.


On a exploré la diffraction de Fraunhofer et la modulation temporelle associée, successivement dans des champs ultrasonores stationnaires et progressifs et pour différentes valeurs de leurs densités énergétiques. Puis on a effectué les mêmes mesures pour l'interférence secondaire et la modulation temporelle associée. Les expériences avaient lieu dans l'eau, avec des ultrasons de 2 MHz et un faisceau laser collimaté après élargissement. Des possibilités d'applications métro-logiques sont mentionnées.
