The method of compensation of difference tones has been used on two subjects with reference to three questions. The results can be summarised in the following generalization: (a) the nonlinearity reacts independent of time; (b) the compensations of the difference tones of third, fifth and seventh order are independent of each other; (c) the difference tone to be compensated exists as a cochlea-traveling-wave, which is composed out of many vectorial partials.


Mit Hilfe der Kompensationsmethode wurden Differenztonmessungen mit zwei Versuchspersonen zu drei Fragen durchgeführt. Die Ergebnisse können wie folgt in verallgemeinerter Form zusammengefaßt werden: (a) die Nichtlinearität wirkt zeitunabhängig; (b) die Kompensationen der Differenztöne dritter, fünfter und siebter Ordnung sind voneinander unabhängig; (c) ein — zu kompensierender — Differenzton existiert als eine Coehlea-Wanderwelle, welche aus vielen Vektoranteilen zusammengesetzt ist.


On a testé deux personnes sur trois questions concernant la mesure des tons différentiels avec l'aide de la méthode des compensations. Les résultats peuvent se résumer globalement comme suit: (a) la non-linéarité agit indépendamment du temps; (b) les compensations pour les tons différentiels du troisième, du cinquième et du septième ordre sont indépendantes les unes des autres; (c) un ton différentiel (compensable) consiste essentiellement en une onde progressive cochléaire constituée de nombreuses composantes vectorielles.
