A Speaker Recognition Scheme on a Minicomputer Based on a Signal Processing Facility

This paper describes a speaker recognition scheme implemented on an interactive signal processing facility. The advantages of using such a facility in choice of suitable code word, feature selection and performance evaluation are discussed. It is possible to obtain a more realistic estimate of performance of speaker recognition system since the design and test set of utterances are different. A simple scheme for recognizing eight speakers using a long term average feature extracted from a short code word is found to give a recognition accuracy of 94%.

Zusammenfassung

In der vorliegenden Arbeit wird ein Sprechererkennungsschema beschrieben, das in eine interaktive Signalverarbeitungsanlage implementiert wurde. Die sich bei der Verwendung einer solchen Einrichtung im Hinblick auf die Wahl eines passenden Code-Wortes, der Merkmalsauswahl und der Auswertung des Betriebsverhaltens ergebenden Vorteile werden diskutiert. Man kann zu einer realistischeren Einschätzung des Betriebsverhaltens des Sprechererkennungssystems kommen, da die beim Entwurf und beim Test verwendeten Ausdrücke verschieden sind. Es stellte sich heraus, daß ein einfaches Schema zur Erkennung von acht Sprechern über einen aus einem kurzen Code-Wort extrahierten Langzeitmittelwert eine Erkennungssicherheit von 94% ergibt.

On décrit un programme de reconnaissance d'un locuteur branché interactivement sur une installation de traitement du signal. Les avantages d'une telle association sont examinés du point de vue de la détermination du mot de code convenable, de la sélection des caractéristiques et de l'évaluation des performances atteintes. Cette dernière pourra être plus réaliste du fait de la séparation du système d'avec la série de tests d'accentuation. Un programme simple pour l'identification de huit locuteurs en utilisant une caractéristique de moyenne à long terme extraite d'un mot de code très court a obtenu un taux de reconnaissance de 94%.
