Information Measurement II. On Minimum Conditions of Energy Order Applied to Elementary Signals
A minimum order energy law is derived for the wave events of structural information theory, which is complementary to the maximum entropy law of (communication) information theory. Information is derived in the sense of both gain in knowledge and organizing power – a definition
warranted by the basic observation that a binary decision is possible utilizing wave fields defined as elementary signals. Entropy is only maximized if the actual events on which the hypotheses of transmission theory are based are of minimum energy order. This result has applications in the
design of optimum two dimensional displays for transmission.
