Numerical Calculation of the Diffraction Losses in the Sound Field of an Ultrasonic Transducer
The sound pressure at any random point in the sound field of a transducer cannot be calculated analytically. The necessary integrations are therefore carried out numerically. A formula is given for the sound pressure at a transducer receiver in the sound field of a transmitter. Using
this formula the diffraction losses are calculated as a function of the distance between transmitter and receiver for a wave number k = 47 mm−1, a transmitter radius a = 5 mm and 32 different receiver radii b = a/32, 2a/32, …, a.
