Measurement of Acoustic Impedance at Oblique Incidence
The absorption coefficient and acoustic impedance of a material are strongly affected by the spatial structure of the acoustic field and by the presence of a flow. At present Kundt's tube (or standing-wave tube) method is used for impedance measurements. This method has the drawback of allowing measurements only in the presence of plane modes, at normal incidence. In this paper we present the principle of a rotating or helical mode simulator which will allow this measurement for acoustic fields at oblique incidence.
