Long-Time-Average-Spectra Applied to Analysis of Music. Part I: Method and General Applications
The usefulness of long-time-average-spectrum analysis of musical sounds is explored. A method is proposed for detection of constant frequency peaks (regions of high spectral energy occurring independent of the fundamental frequency). The reproducibility and the sensitivity to varied
input parameters as the tones chosen, i.e. their range, density, and the duration of music, the instrument, and the microphone position are examined.
