Dynamic Determination of the Variation of Load in Strained Metal Wires
A method of determining the stress relaxation of metal wires is described. The method consists in the measurement of the fundamental frequency of vibration of the wire, while it is held in axial tension at constant length in a very stiff steel frame. The feasibility of the method is demonstrated and its advantages over the conventional ones are outlined.
