Open Access On the Frequency-Dependent Formation of the Microphonic Potential at the Round-Window of the Guinea Pig

An especially simple model is proposed, which represents the frequency-dependent formation of the microphonic potential at the round window (RMP) of the guinea pig. The scales of the cochlea are here considered as efficiently attenuated electrical lines. The stepwise approximation of the calculated to the experimentally determined frequency response of the RMP gives a longitudinal damping coefficient of d ≈ 3 dB/mm. The influence of the cochlea phase velocity upon the calculated RMP frequency response is being discussed.
