The Extraction of Periodic Waveforms by Time Domain Averaging
The extraction of a periodically repeating signal from additive noise by coherent averaging is analyzed. The averaging process being considered as a filtering process, analysis is conducted mainly in the frequency domain. Exact formulation for filtering properties are given for practically
occurring cases. A general approach dealing with a digital comb filter is described, this enabling the design and analysis of related signal processors.
