Resonance and Efficiency of Column Speakers

Column speakers are used in the auditorium to confine the radiated sound from the speaker in the direction of audience. Pritchard has worked out the mutual impedance between two circular vibrating pistons.

This communication shows how the resonant frequency of column varies with the number of speakers present. The efficiency of the speakers at resonant frequency is shown to increase with the number of speakers in the column.
