Images and Sound Rays in the Numerical Calculation of Echograms
The ideas of an image-source and of a sound ray are used in the framework of approximations which permit the rectilinear propagation of sound and its specular reflection, thus promoting energy transport between a source and a receiver in a hall. The addition of the time aspect enters into the determination of the response of a room to transitory signals. The procedures have been numerically applied to two rooms of simple form. An estimation is made of their respective merits. The results of the calculations have been verified experimentally.
