Reactance of a Buffer Air Cushion
The mathematical expression for the specific acoustical reactance of a buffer air cushion, having arbitrary tangential dimensions, was based on the two-dimensional problem of hydrodynamical flow around the partitions of the buffer. The reactance given by the ratio of acoustic pressure to the normal component of acoustic velocity in the entry plane of the air cushion is the local variable. Very good agreement was found between the calculated mean value of the reactance and its value determined by means of the Harris method for measuring acoustic impedance.
