The Localization of a Front and a Rear Sound Source by Test Persons with Unrestricted Head Movement
The direction of sound sensation was investigated in different rooms with one sound source in front of the test person and the other coherent source in the rear. The person's head was not fixed. The apparent direction depends on the sound level difference only, not on the arrival time
difference. If both levels are equal, the sound source seems to be in the front. If the head movement is restricted, the localization is changed.
