The Measurement of the Inner Ear of Domestic Pigs
On the inner ears of fully grown domestic pigs, the canal cross-section, the widths of the basilar, the REISSNER and the tectorial membranes as well as their thicknesses as a function of the canal length have been measured. The tectorial membrane in the domestic pig is unusually wide
and thick towards the helicotrema. The effects of this peculiarity are discussed.
