A Mathematical Model for Hysteresis
A form of “functional” is proposed which is able to give a mathematical representation of the hysteresis in a system, when the characteristic diagram is time-independent. This functional permits, in particular, to write completely the equation which governs the vibration of a one-degree-of-freedom hysteresis system. In addition, it depends on three numerical functions satisfying some regularity conditions; with a suitable choice of this function, the model is applied to the description of the Force – Deflection and Flux – Current diagrams of mechanical and ferromagnetic hysteresis.
