Investigations on Resonance Absorbers for Underwater Sound Employing Viscous Losses in Fluid Films

Two-circuit absorbers for underwater sound employing flow losses may be developed for still lower frequencies than with ordinary construction. However this brings a decrease in the absolute and also the relative frequency-bandwidth. The experiments show that further improvements can hardly be achieved with the present absorbers.

A newly developed method allows the separate study of the two mechanical oscillatory systems constituting an absorber. Thus the construction of tuned two-circuit absorbers is facilitated.
