The generation of sound of a periodical effusion process is investigated in a large subsonic velocity region theoretically and experimentally. With increasing critical-velocity ratio the momentum source portion becomes more and more efficient, besides the volume source portion.

This is experimentally verified:

1. With the aid of directional characteristics, that change their spherical shape and become more and more kidney shaped, and

2. With the aid of measurements in a tube, where the sound pressure increases at first linearly and then with the square of the jet velocity for siren-stimulation at the open tube-inlet.
