Variation of Initial Strains with Impact Velocity for Central Transverse Impacts on Free-Free Beams
A method is described by which the output of a narrow band tuned circuit filter may be operated upon to compensate for the rise time of the filter. This enables the decay of the beam partials to be obtained and the initial strain amplitudes to be estimated by extrapolation to the instant of impact. Measurements are compared with theory using the concept of normalized impact force.
