On the Efficiency of Head-Oriented Stereophony
Hearing tests were carried out with a group of subjects to compare natural hearing with head-oriented stereophony and monophonic reproduction by earphones. The results provide information about: left-right-impression, syllable identification, identification of the listener's position,
similarity between various stereophonic recording techniques and direct hearing, and the connection between signal distortions and the location of the sound source in the head.
