Open Access The Influence of Different Forms of Resonance Cavity on the Quality of the Tone of an Instrument

The good quality resonator is governed by the choice of a material of good quality. The treatment of the interior side of the main resonance boards also plays a predominant role. The variations of the tone spectra are due to different forms of the internal walls of the sounding board.

The tones produced by three concert guitars constructed of the same material, of the Spanish model and of corresponding proportions, but having differently constructed resonance boards, have been recorded and analysed. The spectra are presented and a comparative analysis made.
