The Detectability of Changes in Sound Field Parameters for Music

The detectability of changes of level and retardation of reflections and of the onset of reverberation are investigated for a “synthetic sound field” The initial level, the spectrum of the reflections, and the reverberation level are the parameters. The measured results are expressed quantitatively by differential thresholds. In a second part of the paper the variations necessary for 50% of the subjects to recognize the changes of the sound field correctly are examined.
