The Binaural Masked Thresholds of Pulses

Within the region of the masked thresholds, interaurally time delayed audio frequency pulses can be resolved by the ear into their monaural and binaural parts. The sound intensity of short pulses is integrated over a period of τ ₁ = 200 ms. This integration therefore requires to have a discharge time constant τ ₂ = 200 ms. It is found that the binaural masking level difference ΔL does not correspond to the equation ΔL = a t _v. The critical band is formed separately in each ear, and the processing of the interaural differences is done centrally afterwards.
