The Effect of the Auditory Fatigue upon the Loudness and the Pitch

The effect of the auditory fatigue upon loudness has been measured by the method of loudness binaural balancing, after exposure of one ear of five subjects to one-third octave filtered white noise, with nominal frequency f n = 500, 1000, 3200 Hz and the frequency of measurement f = 600, 1000, 3600 Hz respectively. The results are analogous to the results obtained with asymptotic recruitment.

The effect of the auditory fatigue upon the pitch has been measured by the method of binaural balancing of the frequency, after exposure of one ear of one subject to one-third octave filtered white noise with nominal frequency f n = 1000 Hz and frequency of measurement 400, 600, 800, 1000, 1400, 1700, 2000 Hz. The result is an upward shift for f > 800 Hz, a downward shift for f < 800 Hz.
