On surface pressure fluctuations produced by boundary layer turbulence
Surface pressure fluctuations produced by boundary layer turbulence developed above a rigid plane surface are investigated theoretically. The Navier-Stokes equations for an incompressible flow are used to derive statistical features of the turbulent boundary pressure. The major results are expressions for the space-time boundary pressure correlation, and cross-spectral density. Approximate estimates are made of the normalized lateral, and longitudinal pressure cross-spectral density. The analytical results are compared with available measurements.
