Messung der Hyperschalldämpfung in Quarz
Two measuring arrangements are described by which the hypersound attenuation of longitudinal waves propagating in the x-direction of a cylindrical quartz bar can be determined in the frequency range from 0.5 Gc/s to 2.5 Gc/s and at 10 Gc/s for temperatures between 4 °K and 273 °K. In the lower frequency range the separation of the received signal from noise was made by electronic sampling and summation. Besides the temperature and frequency dependence of the attenuation the influence of the geometry of the bars at the hypersound excitation and propagation were investigated in detail. Mode interferences arising from deviations of the end surfaces of the bars from parallelism became markedly evident.
