The acceptance of the well known loudness approximation Λ = ΛB + Δ Λsp + ΔΛ z leads to the development of an objective measurement which by the insertion of a tertiary filter takes care of impulse loudness measurements. The basic loudness AB will thereby measure the A-frequency value of the effective sound level LÃ. The additional loudness ΔΛ SP comes from the noise spectrum and is like the spectrum level excess ΔLSP of a drawn-up nomogram and the excess loudness due to the noise time function ΔΛ z, when the impulse excess ΔL I can then be directly determined.

The subjective as well as the objective measurement of any bigger value indicates noise, this fits in with the complete result L NI = LÃ + ΔL SP + ΔL I giving a good approximation to the loudness level.
