Streuung von Wasserschall an zu Biegeschwingungen angeregten Hohlzylindern in einem Flachtank
An approximate calculation is given for the scattering characteristics of air-filled hollow cylinders in water which are excited by the incident wave into flexural wave oscillations. This calculation takes into account the flexural wave propagation within the wall of the cylinder but
neglects the propagation of other types of wave. If the m-th flexural wave resonance is excited the scattered sound field is found to be composed of the scattering field of a rigid cylinder and the radiation field of a cylindrical multipole of m-th order which is added with the
appropriate amplitude and phase conditions.
The measurements at the two first resonances (in a shallow water basin) do not differ essentially from the theoretically calculated scattering characteristics.
