Open Access Ultrasonic studies and chemical kinetics–I. Application of Freedman's theory

Values of gross reaction rates and specific reaction rates for the reversible dissociation reactions in aqueous solutions of calcium acetate, lead acetate and zinc sulphate have been calculated on the basis of Freedman's theory utilizing the experimental results on ultrasonic propagation characteristics. The associated equilibrium constants and heat of reaction have also been derived. The equilibrium constant values are in agreement with those obtained from conductance data.
