Influence d'un réflecteur sur les ultra-sons émis par un jet à structure périodique

The visualisation of the periodic structure of jets supports the evidence for the existence of two high frequency sources of sound radiation. These jets being analogous to the jets of reactors and of rockets, their study is particularly interesting from the point of view of their sound effects.

We propose in particular to see if it is possible to weaken the sound emission by reflecting back the sound waves to the emitting region, using an appropriate spherical reflector.

A weakening of the emission should be observed when two conditions are satisfied:

1. the source ought to be sufficiently unstable so as to be susceptible of being weakened by the reflected waves,

2. the reflected waves should be of opposite phase to the source.

  • Acta Acustica united with Acustica, published together with the European Acoustics Association (EAA), is an international, peer-reviewed journal on acoustics. It publishes original articles on all subjects in the field of acoustics, such as general linear acoustics, nonlinear acoustics, macrosonics, flow acoustics, atmospheric sound, underwater sound, ultrasonics, physical acoustics, structural acoustics, noise control, active control, environmental noise, building acoustics, room acoustics, acoustic materials, acoustic signal processing, computational and numerical acoustics, hearing, audiology and psychoacoustics, speech, musical acoustics, electroacoustics, auditory quality of systems. It reports on original scientific research in acoustics and on engineering applications. The journal considers scientific papers, technical and applied papers, book reviews, short communications, doctoral thesis abstracts, etc. In irregular intervals also special issues and review articles are published.
