Elektromagnetische Erzeugung von ebenen Drudcstöβen in Flussigkeiten
An arrangement is described which consists of a flat solenoid and a metal membrane in close mechanical contact with the solenoid on one side and with water contact on the other side. This arrangement is used for the generation of plane pressure pulses of several hundred atmospheres. A condenser discharge through the flat solenoid serves as the energy source. The properties of this sound source are investigated experimentally. The building-up of shock waves from the pressure pulses during propagation is also considered. An electroacoustic method for the measurement of shock front thicknesses by means of the frequency analysis of the shock front spectrum is described. Frequency components of up to 109 c/s are observed. An appendix contains the theoretical analysis of the sound source.
