Open Access Der Einfluß der Fläche des Prüfmaterials auf die Diffusität des Schallfeldes im Hallraum und auf den Schallabsorptionsgrad

Following earlier work [1] in which the influence of the diffusivity on the sound absorption coefficient is taken into account by the concept of a diffusivity coefficient, this influence is now investigated as a function of the test surface. The relations between absorption coefficient, test surface, diffusivity coefficient and relative edge length are determined from measurements with sound absorbers having high and medium absorption coefficients.

It was found that there exists for a given test surface and a given test material an optimum value of the diffusivity coefficient, at which maximum values of the absorption coefficient are measured. The optimum diffusivity coefficient is for a given surface independent of the position of the test sample and therefore also of the relative edge length.
