Die Schalldämmung von homogenen Einfachwänden endlicher Fläche

The sound insulation of partition walls with vertically adjacent side walls is calculated. The calculation reveals that there is a marked influence of the side walls — that is of the boundary conditions — on the sound insulation especially above the coincidence frequency. Only if less energy is transmitted into the side walls than is absorbed by internal friction, the insulation is independent of the wall and of its boundary conditions.
