Die Eigenfrcquenzen von Trichtern

The impedances at the throat and natural frequencies are calculated for horns which consist of a pressure chamber, a connecting tube of constant cross-section and a terminating Salmon horn (widening in the hyperbolic or catenoidal form). In spite of uncertain end-corrections the calculations agree with more precise measurements. The resonances are inharmonic, because of the pressure chamber as well as of the widening of the horn. In special cases it is possible to offset the two influences so as to produce natural frequencies in harmonic relationship.
