Die Eignung des dynamischen Kopfhörers zur Untersuchung frequenzmodulierter Töne
Ear canal resonances could spoil the use of dynamic earphones as calibrated head phones. How ever, a thorough investigation of these resonances shows that they are strongly damped and their intensity is less than ± 3 db. By using a set of two equalizer networks ahead of the earphones the frequency response of the transmission-factor oft he earphones is made uniform within ± 3 db from 20 to 15 000 c/s. Since this frequency response is not only uniform but also very smooth and flat, it becomes possible to use these headphones for measurements of frequency-modulated tones too. The second and third harmonics due to nonlinear distortion of the headphones are less than 1‰ of the fundamental at sound intensities of 90 db and for frequencies above 100 c/s.
