Acoustic emission technology (AET) is an unconventional non-destructive testing (NDT) method for the detection, location and characterisation of various kinds of defects. AET can be applied to understand the different events that occur from the time the drill comes into contact to the time when the process is complete. This paper focuses on finding the variation in the acoustic emission parameters, such as RMS voltage, peak amplitude, AE count and energy, with respect to the cutting conditions and delamination. This also provides the basis for a prediction of the delamination factor with the help of AE parameters.
