Estimation of transmitted torques in dual-clutch transmission systems
Knowledge of the torque transmitted by each clutch is very important for improving the control performance of a dualclutch transmission system. However, it is not feasible to install sensors in the dual-clutch transmission for measuring the torque because of the limited space and high
cost. This paper concentrates on estimating the torque transmitted by each clutch of a wet dual-clutch transmission without additional test sensors. The first part of the work covers the driveline model of the dual-clutch transmission as well as the experimental verification. Secondly, two
estimators based on an extended Kalman filter and unscented Kalman filter are designed to estimate the torque of the dual-clutch transmission during gear shifts. Finally, based on the validated driveline model of the dual-clutch transmission, two proposed algorithms for estimating the torque
are simulated by Matlab/Simulink. The simulation results show that these algorithms work well.
