BINDT encourages the professional recognition of technicians through registration
The UK Engineering Council (EC) commissioned a report in 2012, sponsored by the Gatsby Charitable Foundation, with the aim of creating and launching a revised registration product that is valued by employers and embraced by technicians. The project has now completed its research phase
and issued a report, which provides a number of new perspectives. The EC is now sharing the report's findings and its planned response. The British Institute of NDT has for a long time had a strategic objective to engage with technicians and encourage their professional development, and a
number of new initiatives are underway. It supports the EC project and has been invited to sign up to a commitment to provide leadership by setting targets and committing resources for registration of technicians, explore ways to raise the awareness and value of technician registration and
address actions recommended in the report.
