Surface Plasmon-Based Fiber Loop Ringdown Sensor
In this article, we report a new method of developing a multi-pass absorption of surface plasmon (SP) fiber optic sensor. The integration of the SP sensing mechanism into the fiber loop ringdown (FLRD) sensing scheme is described. The proof-of-the-concept SP-FLRD sensor's response to
different solution indices is demonstrated. Advantages of the SP-FLRD technique and potential improvements on the sensor design are also discussed.
