Preparation of Fe-Based Amorphous Powders and Its Application in Corrosion Resistant Coating

Fe49.9Mo32.9Cr9.32Co4.55Si2.28Al1.55 amorphous powders with the characteristics of regular shape and high amorphous rate were successfully obtained by gas atomization process. Results show that the atomized powders with smaller size has more regular shape and higher amorphous rate. The amorphous powders are used to prepare amorphous coating, and the amorphous rate of prepared coating is more than 90%. Salt spray corrosion and strong acid corrosion experimental results show that the coating has superior corrosion resistant properties. Results indicate that the gas atomization is a promising preparation method for amorphous powders with ultra-high amorphous rate, which can be used to prepare high-performance corrosion resistant coating.
