Controllable Light Transmittance of Eu3 +-Doped Phosphate Glass Ceramic for Optical Switch

We prepared trivalent Eu3+ dopant in phosphate optical glass ceramic. The absorption, excitation and emission spectra of the sample have been studied in details. The wide excitation band of the 612 nm emission, covering from the ultraviolet to visible wavelength region, is observed. The material has strong absorption at 350–425, 450–475, and 520–550 nm. It is worthy mentioning that the selective absorption of the material can be applied to the optical switch.
