Phase Transition in II–VI Nanofilms of Dilute Magnetic Semiconductors: Cd1– x Ni x S
Phase transition from diamagnetic behavior to para/weak ferromagnetism in Cd1–x
Ni
x
S for 0 ≤ x ≤ 0.09 nanofilms was investigated by grazing angle X-ray diffraction (GXRD) and vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM). M–H
curves clearly show negative magnetic susceptibility (Xm
) for x < 0.06 and for x ≥ 0.06 it changes sign. This is due to increase in non-equilibrium states for unpaired d-orbital electrons with increasing Ni concentration.
