Preparation of ZnO Nanocrystals and Their Applications in Varistors
The varistor effect of ZnO nanocrystals has attraction much attention due to its applications in life science, nanotechnology, and energy. In this work we prepared ZnO nanocrystals by coprecipitation and decomposition zinc salt methods, did comparison study of the structure, and size
structure of the nanocrystals. The nanocrystal growth was studied by different experimental parameters such as temperature and Zn concentration compared to the decomposition of Zn salt producing ZnO nanocrystals. The varistors based on the ZnO nanocrystals prepared by the two methods were
also investigated and compared. The nonlinear coefficients (α) of the devices based on nanocrystals prepared by coprecipitation method vary with the nanocrystal preparation conditions. However, relative stable α are observed as the ZnO nanocrystals are synthesized
by decomposition of Zn salt at high temperatures.
