Open Access Effect of post-synthesis nitrogen doping in nanocarbons on cathode reaction of metal-air cells

Nitrogen doping effects on the nanocarbon air-electrode property for metal-air cells were examined using several kinds of nanocarbons (two types of single-walled carbon nanotubes and graphene samples). It was found that the discharge potentials were effectively increased by N-doping while it does not affect the oxygen evolution reaction. Chemical stability of the nanocarbon air-electrode was also investigated by Raman spectroscopy.
