Design and Analysis of a Novel Bi-Directional DC–DC Converter

This paper makes great improvement on the traditional symmetrical bi-directional full bridge DC converter topology structure. A new type of high voltage and large power bidirectional DC–DC converter is designed. The working principle of the dual full bridge bidirectional DC/DC converter with DC blocking capacitor and active clamp circuit is analyzed. The main parameters of the converter is are calculated, then the high frequency and large power isolation transformer is improved. A 10 kW prototype is designed. The experimental results prove the accuracy of the theoretical analysis. It indicates that the converter not only has the advantages of the traditional full bridge bidirectional DC–DC converter, but also improves efficiency and reduces the volume of the whole machine.
