Purpose: The purpose of this work was to construct a theoretical model of the Value-Based leadership content structure from the perspective of dynamic development which is called the tent model of value-based leadership. Design/methodology/approach: (1) Based on the Value-Based Leadership theory and Iceberg model theory, and referring to the tent model framework of John and Joseph, our model includes five supports: leadership competence, leadership behavior, leadership values, leadership trait, and leadership motive. (2) We obtained the space size Vt (an approximate value) based on Mathematica software with double integral calculation in mathematics when the model was idealized. Findings: (1) In the tent model, leadership values are the central support, which support a tent space with four other supports, and to an extent expresses the size of leadership. (2) Leadership values are the most important factor in VBL, the second factors are leadership competence and leadership trait, the third one is leadership behavior, and the last factor is leadership motive. (3) From the perspective of dynamic development, leadership is also dynamic with the change and development of the five supports. Practical implications: Researchers can visually analyze how values-based leadership dynamically develops through size changes of the efficiency space of values-based leadership, and they also can present more ideas about how to continually extend the supports upwards. Originality/value: The model not only helps to intuitively analyze the dynamic change of leadership, but also helps to more vividly grasp the content structure of value-based leadership, for the sake of obtaining high performance and competitive advantage.
