In principle two different approaches in calculating the emission rate of energy in the hydrogen atom can be considered and applied. The first one represents a quantum-mechanical study of the energy emission based on a probabilistic-and-statistical background. This case refers the emission rate to a number of the electron carriers which remains essentially unknown. But another formalism, which is of a semiclassical nature, does concern only single electron transitions between the definite quantum levels. Since both approaches can be expected to give similar results for the emission intensity, their comparison leads to an estimate of the number of carriers entering the quantum-mechanical theory. For all electron transitions between the low-lying quantum states in the hydrogen atom, the carriers number is found to be enclosed between 106 and 108.
