Microwave Effect versus Thermal Effect on the Synthesis of 4-[(substituted benzylidene)amino]-5-(pyridin-4-yl)-4H-1,2,4-Triazole-3-Thiol Candidates
A series of Schiff base derivatives 4a-k were synthesized from 4-amino-3-(4-pyridyl)-5-mercapto-4H-1,2,4-triazole 3 as starting materials by using microwave irradiation technique. The synthesized compounds were fully characterized by NMR, FT-IR, elemental analysis, and HR-mass
spectra. The results indicated that the microwave irradiation technique gave higher yields of pure products with short time of the reaction in compare to the thermal method.
